There were also some mishaps

The amateur’s had a showing

The amateur broke his axle – oops!

Can someone tell me what the difference between a “Wrangler” and “Security” is?

I got a little disappointed when I found out they weren’t going to use the big jump in the middle of the course.

And just an FYI on the back stage rules (to the rodeo)…

Dear Dad –

Here are 10 reasons, plus a bonus 2, I think you’re the most awesome & unique dad in the world – in no particular order.  (sorry mom…I didn’t make a top 10 list for you for Mother’s Day.  next year…promise).

1.   Your a really hard worker and a pretty successful fella.

2.  You have 8 full and 2 half fingers – stupid table saw.

3.  You were always and still are supportive of us girl’s hopes & dreams.  Except when I wanted to be a Billy Joel groupie.

4.  You were once a rocker (on the local fair circuit) – in Flat Busted.  Pretty hard core.

5.  You taught me how to throw a softball & not like a girl.

6.  You share a love for golf with me.  Thankfully you still let me beat you now & again – I appreciate that

7.  You taught me that farting is always funny.

8.  You believe that Walgreen’s is awesome – if you can’t find what you need, try Walgreen’s.  If Walgreen’s doesn’t have it, it doesn’t exist.

9.  You’re one of the most generous & kindest people in the world.

10.  Even though I was a pain in the butt child, you still loved me unconditionally.

11.  You taught me how to really appreciate an Earth Day & that the Earth is NOT our mother.

12.  You always made our childhood full of laughter with elephants tromping through the house, mysterious “Dad Land”, and wrestling.

Love You Dad!!!

Every year Altoona has a carnival – Cinder City Days.  Its a city wide thing complete with parade, doll & pet parade & softball tournament.  Its a big deal.

I have 2 distinct memories of Cinder City Days.  My first, I must have been about 7 years old.  I went with my dad & BethAnn.  After spending all of my allotted $$ on one game, I finally hit enough balloons with a dart to win a prize.  A.PRIZE.  I.WON.A.PRIZE.  Unfortunately, my excitement for an awesome prize such as an inflatable hammer or huge stuffed animal was short lived because I only had enough for a post.  A poster of Kiss, Aerosmith, or Nirvana.  I remember starring at those posters thinking all the guys on them looked incredibly scary & not something my parents would want me to have.  After a long battle in my head of “do I get a post because i actually won it” vs. “walk away”, I walked away.  I told the guy I wasn’t interested in his posters.  He tried to convince me I wanted one, but I held my ground.  I even got a pat on the back from my dad and a “i’m proud of you kid”.

My 2nd memory is a few years later.  I was probably 12 or 13.  We played in a softball tournament in the hot hot sun – ALL DAY.  Afterwards, some of the girls from my team wanted to go on some rides, and my parents obliged & let me.  We were on the tilt-o-whirl, spinning in a small circle in the midst of a bigger rotating circle.  Oh the dizziness!  I remember my dad talking to the carnie running the ride and having a bit of an argument.  After a few more turns, the carnie stopped the ride short.

Dad:  Catie – get off the ride

C: Why?

D: Because you’re green

C: No I’m not, I feel fine

D: I think you should get off.

I did what he requested, after all, I was pretty dizzy.  Not 2 seconds after I stepped outside of the metal fence, I threw up EVERYWHERE.  OOPPS.  I guess Dad & Mom know best.

I had some time this weekend to take some pictures.  Enjoy!  (FYI…I was almost wet my pants the first 5 times I rode the Zipper….it was scary).

I spent this weekend in WI visiting my family.  Where else would you find this on the kitchen counter due to its high use?

Friday I got to spent the majority of the day with Sarah, helping her prepare for B’s baby shower.  Sarah had a brilliant idea to make cake pops.  Although, cake pops, are super adorable, they are a pain to make.  After about an hour of getting a lot of broken & deformed ones, we were just praying we’d be able to make 18 “decent” ones that we could use for the party.  Thankfully, we got a few more than 18, but not by much.  There has to be an easier way!!!

Friday afternoon, I spent at B’s house helping her repaint a dresser for the nursery.  Although I don’t have pictures, I think the end product is pretty spectacular.  I hope B thinks the same!

Saturday was busy with B’s shower.  I think it was a success.  We decorated onesie’s for the baby, ate, drank punch, played some games, gabbed, & opened presents.

Saturday night I had the honor of attending my 10 year HS reunion (wha??  It’s been 10 years already?).  It was held at Hobbs in the midst of Cinder City Days & the softball tournament.  Not really classy, but definitely suitable.   To sum it up there were a lot of people who changed and a lot who stayed the same.  It must be the world’s way of achieving equilibrium. The worst part – seeing horrid pictures of myself throughout the years.  EEKS!!  What was I thinking?

It was important to me to go to a college where I wasn’t surrounded by a lot of my high school peers.  I felt that would give me the best opportunity to really grow & become the person I am today.  I would be able to define myself vs. hanging out with people who had defined me through school.  Because of that, I was terrible at keeping in touch with friends after high school,  which made it even nicer to catch up with a lot of people.  I have vowed to do a better job from here on out!

I have also decided I’m going to make a reunion T-shirt…and make millions.  It will have these lines:

Married?  Y/N

Kids? Y/N

Still live in town?  Y/N ________ (if you answer no, write in city here)

Occupation _______

That way, you don’t have to ask (OR answer) those questions over  & over again.  If you’re interested, I’ll make them with puffy paints for $15 + shipping.

Today, I golfed with my dad.  He KILLED me.  And I MUST get it together before our annual golf match this fall.  I have my work cut out for me…. Oi Vey.

This lovely beast was parked outside of the Kwik Trip.

Yesterday morning Matt & I went to our favorite breakfast place…which my sister, BethAnn, also loves.  In the middle of breakfast –

M: Text B & tell her we’re thinking of her while having Hot Cakes

C: I can’t…that’s to mean – taunting the almost 8 month pregnant woman w/ her favorite breakfast place that she can’t have

M: no it’s not, she’ll think its nice we’re thinking of her

C: No she won’t, she’ll no longer want to give the baby, if a girl, my middle name. I guess it doesn’t matter, she’s having a boy anyways.

M: Text her anyways.

C: What do you think she’s having?

M: Oatmeal.

C: *almost spits out diet coke* I was talking about if she’s having a boy or girl

M: Oh…I thought you meant what was she having for breakfast.

There you have it folks.  Mid July I can be expecting a lovely bowl of oatmeal instead of a niece or nephew.

In an effort to write at least 1 blog/week, I’m going to write about our week.  I think you’ll all find it incredibly boring riveting.

Lets start with last weekend.  Memorial Day weekend…woot woot!  I got an extra day off.  I’m still psyched about that.  Who doesn’t love a 4 day work week?  Friday Matt & I went to see Bridesmaids.  It had a lot of really funny parts with a lot of crude humor.  On the contrary, it had a lot of really slow parts too.  Overall…it was worth the movie ticket price (side note…why is the movie theater so expensive?  OUCH!).

Saturday was SO awesome I don’t even remember what we did.
Sunday we attended our dear friend Max’s birthday party at his lovely in-laws compound.  The ladies spent hours lounging by the pool turning our pastey white selves into bronzed beauties all while gossiping.  The men played badminton & when the heat of the day go to much, they sat in the shade – apparently they think pastey white looks good on them (who are they fooling?).  After a delicious BBQ, a few of played THE.BEST.GAME.EVER – Yahtzee.  As usual, Liz kicked tookus (so did Josh, but not as much as double yahtzee rolling Liz).  It really WAS a perfect day.  Thanks Gina for pulling it together – Max is the luckiest lad EVER to have you as a wife.

Monday was another beautiful day outside.  I couldn’t let that go to waste, so I got productive outside.  The chop saw busted out &  decided to be crafty (sort of) & make cake pop  holders.  Folks, if you don’t know what cake pops are, please google & educate yourself – its the new craze…don’t be left behind.  In between sawing, priming, painting & sanding I did a bunch of yard work.   I even remembered to water my flowers.  I’m determined to be on top of that this year – I think that’s why my flowers die right away…lack of water.  This year, I am determined to win the Best Green Thumb Award in my neighborhood.  The neighborhood doesn’t know it exists yet, but won’t they be happy when I unveil it.

Best part of the week – we put 3 letters in our mail slot Monday for the mailman.  When we came home from the grocery store, they had blown away.  Oooopppssieees.  Thankfully, Ben, across the street has our back.  He dropped one off that he spotted 2 blocks away on Tuesday night and then on Wednesday, he found one in his yard.  I think the mailman found the 3rd one because it was back in our mail slot.  Ben has earned himself a batch of brownies.  Lucky Fella.  I don’t care if the rest of the neighborhood doesn’t like him, he’s a gem at the Williams’ household.  Stamps are expensive folks…

I know, you are ALL wishing you lived the life of luxury & excitement that Matt & I do.  Trust me, its not easy & not for the faint of heart.
