Who will do my laundry

March 25th, 2012

Tomorrow my mom goes home. She’s been here for the last 10 days, and I won’t lie, i’m going to miss her terribly.  She claims she hasn’t been helpful, but she’s been AMAZINGLY helpful.  She’s done my laundry, scrubbed my kitchen (even behind the microwave!), lugged my baby around, helped me cure a bad case of diaper rash, snuggled him & fed him at night so I could pump when Matt was out of town, kept me company & has kindly pointed out our parent fails.

Parent Fails:

– Our Super Target has a cart escalator (enter store on bottom level & store is 1 story up…there is this escalator thing you put your cart on, its awesome).  Matt & I put Link in his car seat in the cart & put him in the car escalator instead of taking the elevator.  We thought it was funny, Mimi thought we should use the elevator from now on.

– Making Link a Mer-Man.  One night, Matt changed Link’s diaper, and when he handed him back to me to feed him, I noticed BOTH legs were in 1 pant leg.  Ooops.  Good thing he’s so laid back he didn’t care if his dad made him a Mer-Man.

– Baby tootsies always need socks or pants w/ feet.  Until Mimi came, our little boy had cold feet while in the house.

– Always carry an extra outfit in the diaper bag.  We haven’t had to use it yet, but I’m glad I had my mom there to remind me to put one in, I’m sure I’ll be thankful one day.

Thank you for all of your help mom!  Link, Matt & I love you SO much.

2 weeks

March 21st, 2012

Link is 2 weeks today & growing a lot, its ridiculous.  He just doesn’t seem like a little peanut anymore.  Yesterday at his 2 week appointment he was already 8lbs 1.5 oz.  His face is filling out & his hair is getting longer/growing in.   With Link turning 2 weeks I gained some independence today […]

Link is 2 weeks today & growing a lot, its ridiculous.  He just doesn’t seem like a little peanut anymore.  Yesterday at his 2 week appointment he was already 8lbs 1.5 oz.  His face is filling out & his hair is getting longer/growing in.

With Link turning 2 weeks I gained some independence today – being able to drive myself again.  I’m sure my mom was glad to not have to navigate Denver anymore and I’m glad to not have to constantly be giving her directions to places I could find with my eyes closed.

Today I started trying to get him more on a “schedule”.  He already is on a general 3 hour schedule, but i tried to keep him up more after he ate so he didn’t sleep ALL day.  It worked sometimes, sometimes not.  If I let him, he’d sleep 6+ hours straight during the day – I wish he’d do that at night instead.

Matt was out of town the last few days for work.  I’m so glad my mom has been here to help – I’d be lost without her.  We’ve done a lot of trips to Target, laundry, & organizing.  Slowly, but surely, my house is getting back in order.

Goldy Pants

March 14th, 2012

Matt & I saw this chick in the Whole Foods parking lot. Me: Babes, why don’t I have pants like that? M: You aren’t stylish.

One Week

March 14th, 2012

We’ve survived the first week.  It’s been a roller coaster – no one tells you postpartum sucks.  I told Matt today – Link is officially 8 days old, that was a long 8 days, kind of a blur too.  He remains a super easy baby, which I’m very thankful for.   Lucy is a great […]

Lucy is a great big 4-legged sister.  Very attentive to Link’s needs & is the first on the scene for any squawking out of him.  However, taking care of her little brother is exhausting.  Poor thing just wonders around the house all day looking so tired.

Here are some pictures from the last week.

Link Allister

March 8th, 2012

Link was born Tuesday at 8:11am.  He’s the most perfect little boy, who looks identical to Matt.  There is not one part of him, physically, that is me – which means he MUST have my sparkling personality, right?   Aside from having a bit of a rough start & not being able to keep his […]

Aside from having a bit of a rough start & not being able to keep his oxygen saturation up Tuesday, he’s doing super well.  Link is the most laid back little dude ever.  He really only cries when hungry or wet, but sleeps most of the time or just lays awake looking around.  I’d appreciate if he stayed so laid back!

Ready or Not

March 5th, 2012

Baby: Ready or not, you’re coming Tuesday morning, a little bit early – due to you predicted hugeness.  I will know you share my sense of humor when you come out 8lbs or less – a perfectly normal sized baby.  Oh, the irony!!   I couldn’t be more excited to no longer be as big […]

Baby:

Ready or not, you’re coming Tuesday morning, a little bit early – due to you predicted hugeness.  I will know you share my sense of humor when you come out 8lbs or less – a perfectly normal sized baby.  Oh, the irony!!

I couldn’t be more excited to no longer be as big as a house, but instead maybe just as big as trailer.  Everyone else is pretty stoked too – Aunt Sarah has a countdown.  However, I think the most excited/anxious is Lucy Dog.  We more often than not find her laying on your bedroom floor.  Here is a picture of her today while I was assembling the last few things for you.  I was taking up the whole floor, so she was forced to lay in the doorway – close enough.
