What I Brought To Daycare Today…

98% of the time when I get Link out of his car seat, he throws his item on the seat & leaves it.  Not today, no sir.  I had to PRY the two beer bottles out of his hands & put them on the floor, out of his reach.  He then began a royal tantrum & screaming bloody murder (at 6:30 am, mind you). If daycare’s neighbors didn’t love him yet, they do now!

What I Brought to Daycare Today

October 25th, 2013

I decided this AM I should start a new segment on the blog (somehow…) and it will be called “What I Brought to Daycare Today”.   Link is weird, let’s be honest.  He just is (and I love every bit of it).  He gets attached to random items (like socks) & can’t let it go.  Most […]

I decided this AM I should start a new segment on the blog (somehow…) and it will be called “What I Brought to Daycare Today”.   Link is weird, let’s be honest.  He just is (and I love every bit of it).  He gets attached to random items (like socks) & can’t let it go.  Most days before daycare, when I say “ok, let’s go to Ms. Rachel’s” he will quickly grab an object, if he already doesn’t have something in his hands (usually it’s what he’s been playing with while I get ready).  I figure it’s not worth the battle & he usually leaves them in the car to play with on the way home.

This week:

Monday:  secret deodorant & Olay face moisturizer (this is another blog).

Tuesday:  Matt took him to daycare.

Wednesday: a blue plastic circle

Thursday: two monster trucks

Last weekend I rode “Tour The Moon” – a 64 mile bike ride through Colorado National Monument in Grand Junction.  Unfortunately, the route was re done last minute due to the government shut down & not having all access to the park.  The ride was still awesome.  Cold & a lot of up hill (4000 ft in elevation change), but still awesome.

Aside from a few moments going up a steep climb when I was in the lowest gear & frustrated that I couldn’t shift down any lower & to proud to get off & walk my bike like some others and my fingers going numb, I’d do it again.

1.5 miles before the end, it was all down hill & I was cruising along when my ride got a bit bumpy.  I thought “hmm, did the road change?  Nope, still nice smooth asphalt”.  Then I looked back at my back tire & it was flat.  Really universe?  1.5 miles from the end?  My riding partners thankfully realized I was missing once they got to the next intersection & came back to help me change my tire so I was able to finish.

Official now w/ bike rack.

Phil, myself & Burke at the finish (for the record, I know how sexy I look in bike spandex, no need to fill the comment section up about it).Image

Matt & Link came along to support me – my biggest fans.  I asked Matt what he was going to do all day w/ Link (this ride took me 5 hours) and he proudly said Link & he were going to have their very first Father-Son Real Estate Scouting Expedition.  I couldn’t help but giggle while my heart warmed when I heard & saw the excitement from Matt.  Unfortunately, Link slept through their entire expedition.

Begging me to go outside, at 5:45am.  “hat, shoe, outside!”

Denver/Colorado got a lot of rain a few weeks ago.  It was maddening.  To say the Williams House went a bit stir crazy is an understatement.  It seems both Link & Lucy go a bit crazy if they don’t get their daily walk.  We took advantage of the few moments it wasn’t raining.

The poor boy fell asleep in the shopping cart.  Guess I pushed his nap time a little to hard.  Oops 🙂  This old man stopped & said hello to him & startled him awake. The old man says “huh, he doesn’t look very good!”.  I agree, but the guy also only had one eye…

We took a trip to Mimi & Poppy’s for my friend Sara’s wedding.  He perfected the word “backpack” on this trip by making sure to point out & loudly exclaim every time he saw one at the airport.
