Attitude Adjustment

Last spring was the first time Link really “experienced” snow (i.e. he was old enough to actually be around it, not just whisked to & from the car in his car seat).  He totally didn’t mind it.   This winter started off rough.  Every time it snowed, he sort of panicked.  He’d point to the […]

This winter started off rough.  Every time it snowed, he sort of panicked.  He’d point to the white stuff & cry/whine “no…no..no…”  Heaven forbid he actually had to walk in it.  Panic….PURE PANIC.  He’d say, very quickly & even more whiney “no! no! no!” and stop – dead in his tracks & beg to be picked up.    He even did diva hands…

Aunt B was kind of enough to send him a pair of snow pants this winter.  I packed them for Christmas in WI, thinking he might change his mind.  Thursday all the kids went sledding, so I bundled him up.  His WI cousins were stoked – he was skeptical.

Being the thrill seeker he is, he LOVED sledding (although his face doesn’t necessarily show it).  The faster & further he went, the better.

Things were going swimmingly, until…the snow touched him.  Game over.

Because I like to torment my kid & because I was going a bit stir crazy (you know, trying to entertain a toddler for the 5th day in a row inside, while my husband is STILL sick in bed), I decided to take him out in the snow again the next day.  It surprisingly went much better.

Wednedsay PM/Thursday AM this week we got dumped with quite a bit of snow.  On the way to the car to daycare, Link squealed with glee “No Mama! NOOOO!!”.  Apparently he now loves it & “no” has meant “snow” this entire time.

Life has been so chaotic for us.

We sold our house…again – YAY!!

The offer on the house we did all of this for fell through….along with two others -BOO!

So here we are, 27 days away from our eviction notice, with no new house on the horizon.  We are touring the last 4 houses on the market we haven’t seen yet on Saturday, but I’m not holding out to much hope.

As if finding a new house/moving isn’t stressful enough, I’ve been searching for new daycare.  The daycare Matt & I found & really liked for Link didn’t have an opening for him until May so I needed to find an interim daycare.  I toured about 5 daycares without much luck.  Finally, on Monday, I found one that I thought would be great in the mean time.  After the tour, I called and said I’d be there after lunch to pick up his registration information.

Ironically, not even five minutes later, I got a call from the original daycare, in which he was wait listed, and they said they had a last minute opening starting January 27 & it was his if he wanted it.  In my head, I was all ‘OH.MY.GOSH YES! YES! YES!  YOU ARE AN ANSWER TO MY PRAYERS AND A RAY OF SUNSHINE IN MY STRESS & DARKNESS.  YES!” with a giant squeal.  I kept my composure & was all “yeah, that’s cool, sign him up”.

Link’s last day at his current daycare is tomorrow, but I was and am more than happy to find back up daycare for him for the next week if that means he gets to go to the daycare/preschool we wanted.  Phew.
Dodged that bullet, but there was a lot of sweating & tears in the mean time.

Did I mention we have 26 more days until we close on the house & have to be out?  We have 6 boxes packed.  I’m fully motivated to pack in the evenings until about 6:30 pm, and than I’ve lost all will to go on, let alone the will to pack…or blog.

OH, did I mention I’m absolutely slammed at work too? I mean, I probably have enough work to keep me busy for 60 hours/week.  I should actually be working right now, but blogging has been on my mind lately & I had an actual spurt of creative juices in my head, not just a blank stare.

On a lighter note – Link said his first 3 word sentence this weekend “I farted dada”.  I love that boy.

More to come soon…I hope!!!!
