I was incredibly sad I didn’t get a photop w/ the boys & santa this year.  I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted one.  We went to Bass Pro Shop because I heard it was the best & free – Christmas Eve.  Rookie mistake.  Apparently you can’t just show up & wait for an hour.  They have TIME SLOTS.  UGH!  We got there and the first time slot was in like 2 hours.  Lame.  Needless to say, I held back tears as we left w/o my picture.

Fortunately, the Easter Bunny was set up right in front of Build-A-Bear this weekend.  I didn’t really even think about it.  However, when Link saw the Easter bunny, he was SOOO excited.  We had to go visit him.  Wouldn’t you know, I had Duke w/ us too.  PERFECT PHOTO OP.  The Easter Bunny will have to replace Santa this year.  Nevermind my child’s stained shirt.  He spilled chocolate milk all over himself about 5 min. before the birthday part.  I have extra undies & pants for him, but not a shirt (mom fail).  Lesson learned.vermind my child’s stained shirt.  He spilled chocolate milk all over himself about 5 min. before the birthday part.  I have extra undies & pants for him, but not a shirt (mom fail).  Lesson learned.

This might seriously be my favorite picture of the both of them – creepy bunny & all.

Link is active.  Some kids like books, Link likes to move.  He does best when doing a physical activity (jumping, running, climbing, biking, sports).  We signed him up for soccer on Friday nights this spring & learn to skate Saturday AM’s.  HE’s been begging to play hockey – when he plays hockey, he’s going to hit (check) people & go BOOM!.  That was a quote…

Before you can play hockey, one must learn to skate.  This week was week 4.  Week 1 was good, week 2 he cried for mommy the entire time (Matt & I switch weeks we’re on the ice with him).  Last week, week 3, we both came off the ice in tears.  Me because he wasn’t trying and he, because, well, he’s 3.  We were both incredibly frustrated.  However, this week, it clicked.  He tried and did awesome.  So proud of this kid.  I’m sure I could post a video, but I’m to lazy to figure that out.  Also, take note of my sexy husband in his shorts.hockey

After hockey on Saturday, we promptly went to a birthday party at Build-A-Bear.  IT was chaos, but I expected nothing less from 3 year olds.  Link originally picked out a ninja turtle (shocker!), but right before inserting the heart, he “wanted to trade” and got a giraffe instead.  It’s adorable.  Link played the game for a bit.

Colored his giraffe’s house…

BAB1

Gave his giraffe a bath (he’s very nurturing!).

BAB2

And then he said the heck w/ it and started to ride his giraffe like a pony…and wouldn’t stop.

I was standing in the plumbing aisle at Lowes yesterday looking for some clear plastic tubing when 3 guys rolled up on me.  I noticed they had a funnel…

Me: are you making a beer bong?

Guy 1: yes!  It’s spring break & time to party.

Me: fun! (now flashing back to college)

Guy 1:  Are you making one too?

Me:  No…I’m making a marble run…for my son…

Guy 2:  Awesome, if he’s old enough, he can come party with us!

Me: *half smile*….  Have fun guys!!   (What I wanted to say….”Bro! I’m making him a marble run”)

In my head, I’m still a fun 22 year old beer bonging fun chick.  Reality is I’m now a 32 year old marble run building cool mom (at least working on the cool part).

Side note…did anyone else notice my 3 year old got invited to a spring break beer bong party, but I didn’t?  Man, I must have looked old & uncool.

the year I actually got it together & had a party for Link.

We invited a few of his friends (seven to be exact) to Jumpstreet for a morning of jumping & an afternoon of naps.  I didn’t get any pictures of him at his party, but I can gaurantee you he had a great time.
I’m impressed with my part favor bag.  I made it a “transportation” theme, sort of.  Nothing really fancy, but considering this isn’t my forte, I was pleased.

Link’s cake.  It was super yummy.  Lucy even helped herself to half of the cab.  It’s not exactly what I requested, but it still turned out good.

Three

Link turned three last week.  He’s been talking about his March 6th Birthday since…oh…October.  All day he kept asking if it was still his Birthday, it was so cute. Link is such an awesome kid.  Even through all the tears (by both of us) he never ceases to make me smile.  Whether it’s his funny personality or when he takes my face in his hands and says “mommy, don’t be sad” and wipes my tear.  He’s just so sweet.

Link is also at the stage where he says hysterical stuff….and copies.
For example:  We are hurrying to leave the house to catch our flight back to WI.  I was trying to hurry & get dressed so I could start getting the kids in car.  I was about to leave the house when I realized I forgot my bra.  What a pain – I have to take my coat off, shirt off, UGH…

Me: *exasperated*  Shit!

Link:  Shit!

Me:  Oops!  Sorry Link.  Mommy shouldn’t have said that.  We don’t say Shit.

Link:  Why?  It just means oopsie!
Yup, you’re right kid, it just means oopsie.  Thanks for putting a smile on your parents face, just when we needed it the most that day.
I hope he never loses his caringness (totally a word), huge heart, giant smile, and silly personality.

Link is VERY into Jake & The Neverland Pirates. I found this ship on clearance at Target months ago. It was probably his most favorite present & he has been playing with it non stop.
