Happy 1/3 of a year little dude.

Duke is becoming such a fun & interactive little boy.  He talks…A.LOT.  I mean…a lot!  Tons of smiles and giggles too.  I’m loving it.

At his one month appointment, I asked his pediatrician about his grunting, because the kid grunted 24/7 when wasn’t asleep.  I mean, it was ridiculous the amount of grunting he did.  He was sooooooooo noisey.   His pediatrician said it was a good thing, grunting is one of their first forms of communication.  I came home from his appointment & told my mom.  We joked that he’ll probably be a talker.   It’s no longer a joke.  The kid is SO talkative.  Even daycare has commented on it.  He talks to the other kids a lot and “sings” when they play music.   It’s so adorable.  My face often hurts from how much he makes me smile.

Me:  If they are being funny, we can laugh at our friends.

Link:  But not if they bonk their head.  That’s not nice.  We give them a hug instead.

I wanted to tell him it’s ok to laugh even if they bonk their heads, because honestly, sometimes it’s funny.  However, I went with his idea of hugs instead.

30 seconds later while I’m buckling him into his carseat…

Link:  Mom, I won’t whine or cry today.

Me:  Sounds like a great plan dude.

Link: (makes this noise)…eh…eh…eh..

Me: *looking at him weird* Was that you whining?

Link:  Yes, I not say that word today.

Me:  I like it.

I then run into the house…30 seconds later I come out w/ Duke to Link whaling with giant crocodile tears.

Me:  What’s the matter bud?  Why are you crying?

Link:  I want my daddy!!!!!!!!!

So much for not crying today.

Like a boss

Everyday we get a report from school on Link & Duke.  Link always gets “he had such a great day”, “Link was a good listener today”, “Link was a great helper”, “Link was a rock star”, etc.  I figured kids always got good reports.  The Friday before Easter, I was picking him up at the […]

Everyday we get a report from school on Link & Duke.  Link always gets “he had such a great day”, “Link was a good listener today”, “Link was a great helper”, “Link was a rock star”, etc.  I figured kids always got good reports.  The Friday before Easter, I was picking him up at the same time another family was picking up their boy.  The mom said “Little Boy!  You had another bad day?  Why are you having such a hard week!?” after looking at his sheet.

Earlier this week, Matt was talking to his teacher about it.  Saying we thought every kid got a good report, but apparently not & if Link is naughty, don’t hesitate to let us know.  She told him he’s such a good boy.  Always sweet to the other kids, a good listener, does what he’s told, never has to “take a break”. If he’s not, she just has to give him the “look” and he shapes up.

Yesterday, we got this.

bad report

I thought it was him not minding his own business.  We’ve been working on that.  He tends to “tell” on other kids when they aren’t doing what they are told, because you know, he’s a goody two shoes.  However, when Matt asked his teacher this AM, apparently he was bossing all the kids around & telling them what to do.

This just confirms my suspicions of him running a Fortune 500 company someday.

(at least he wasn’t jumping off the tables, being defiant, having a melt down, or hurting other kids)

3 months

This is so delayed…oops!   I actually got the pictures taken at 3 months, I just haven’t posted yet.   3 months meant the transition for me back to work & duke into daycare.  He’s taken it like a champ & has smiles for his teachers every AM.

We had to put our sweet Lucy B down on Wednesday.  A few weeks ago she started acting really lethargic & not eating, so I had Matt bring her to the emergency vet.  We found out there she had Lymphoma.

We are very thankful we got another 1.5 weeks with her.  And although, she had a bit of pep still on Wednesday, you could tell she wasn’t herself.  We made sure to love up on her a lot, feed her ice cream for dinner & breakfast & give her a few short walks.

The house quieter & emptier without her.  She is terribly missed.
