Duke is still a pretty easy baby & tolerates the smothers from Link pretty well.

Week One

Duke ended his first week by being discharged from Children’s for a really high bilirubin level.

Last Monday we had our first pediatrician apt.  She commented on his jaundice, and I said they had tested it Friday before they discharged us from the hospital and it was 10.1.  Our ped. thought she better just recheck it to make sure it was going down, but assured me she didn’t think he looked that bad.

Later Monday afternoon she called me and said it was 20.5 and we need to head to Children’s to be admitted.  Our pediatrician said she was shocked it was so high and she had only ever seen one other kid w/ a bilirubin 20+.

Thankfully, after 24 hours under the lights, his bilirubin number was down enough for us to be discharged.

I was able to spend about 10 min with him after he was born before they brought him into the NICU for breathing issues.  Can I just tell you, it’s a weird feeling to be laying on the OR table, with a blue sheet in front of you, after your husband & baby leave…I mean, could someone talk to me?  Keep me company?  Tell me a funny joke?  Sing a song??

Duke stayed in the NICU all day Tuesday, Wednesday & was able to come up to my room Thursday PM.  I’m enjoying snuggling him and admiring his sandy blonde hair.

Welcome to the family Duke Marco.  I hope you’re prepared for the crazy that is our house.   A dog always in your business & a brother who is loud & rambunctious.

the number 20….

August 19th, 2014

It’s been 20 days since I last posted – WHAT???  Ugh  I’ve been seriously slacking on my blogging.  I want to blog, I want to blog all day, but my mind is all “uhhh…duhhh…uhhh…got any red vines?….”  It’s been ridiculous.  Not to mention, we haven’t been up to very much, except the usual.  I should […]

I should just start blogging the usual (novel idea).

20 also marks how many weeks I am today.  Boom – half way folks.  Half way.
Here is baby boy Williams at 16 weeks.  Yes, I was one of those freaks who paid an ultrasound place $100 to determine the sex early.  I just couldn’t wait until my 21 week apt…I couldn’t.  No ma’am.  No sir.  The suspense was way worse this time around.  Now am I at peace with my world again – that’s all that matters, right?
