I guess this is my official coming out to the world, except I’m not sure who I’m coming out to.  My mom already basically told my family that I’m pregnant…and most of our friends already know…and who else reads my crap?  Anyways, if you didn’t already know, and keep thinking “wow…catie has gained almost all the weight back that she lost…she doesn’t look smokin’ hot & fit anymore”  Eh..well, good news, I’m not bloated, I’m pregnant!  Yiiipppeee!!

So far, so good.  The first couple of weeks I might have uttered these words “Mom!…if this is what it’s like to be pregnant, I’m not having anymore children”.  This…coming from the mouth of a lady who once wanted 6 kids.  Fortunately, everyone is right, your mind has a funny way of making you forget how horrible it once was, and it does get better.  Although I still have days of nausea and am dead asleep by 9:00pm (on a good night) and am almost constantly eating, I’m not so miserable anymore and have gone back to wanting 6 kids.

I found out this week that Panera is NOT pregnant lady friendly…unless your just going to eat their french onion soup, which is only mediocre anyways.  Word on the street is that you should avoid cold lunch meat & the sorts…something about it carrying listeria.

Imagine my excitement last week when the ladies at work decided we’d go to Panera for lunch.  I’ve been DYING for the Bacon Turkey Bravo sandwich – my ULTIMATE favorite sandwich.  *mouth waters*.

This is my conversation w/ the Shift Manager…his name was probably Dudley or something.

C: Hi!  I’d like the Bacon Turkey Bravo.  Is it possible to heat up my turkey?

SM: *talking really slow* Uhh…well…technically…i guess we could do it..but..its not really easy

C: Hmm…well…see this pudge right here, that’s my unborn child, and cold lunch meat might kill it.

SM: yeah, see, we don’t have a microwave, except for that one over there, by the coffee out on the floor.

C: oh, well great!  Can you just heat my turkey for 30 seconds in that & then slap it on my sandwich?”

SM: ummm…

C: Fine!  I’ll take the Smokehouse Turkey Panini…make sure my meat’s warm

C: Oh…with a baguette…its a delicious vehicle to get butter in my mouth.

SM: That will be $7.46.

*sighs*  It maybe wasn’t THAT dramatic…

Anyways, for future reference Atlanta Bread Company heats meat, they have several microwave’s.  Their sandwich’s are not as delicious, but at least you won’t get Listeria.  That’s my PSA of the month.  *pats self on back*

Yesterday, as we’re driving away from our favorite breakfast spot, in “uptown” (i.e. upper downtown where it is more residential than commercial downtown, but very “urban”).

C: Ohh…look at the drama over there…it requires TWO police cars w/ lights.

M: I wonder what’s going on?

C: I’ll gawk, you drive.

C: Oh!  Deer!

M: What???  That doesn’t explain the situation, can you elaborate.

Hits breaks to let deer cross street while police cars chase w/ lights on

M: Oh….DEER!   Not Oh Dear!

Self Titled "Urban Deer"

Matt assured me the officers were just chasing the deer to try & contain them until Animal Control could come & relocate them to the mountains..not to make the venison jerky.

As a kid – 4th Of July was amazing.  The excitement I held for it was about equal to the excitement of Christmas.  Some of my best memories are from the 4th Of July.

The Kleist’s always knew how to throw a party.  But I will admit, without the help of Stacy, BethAnn, Susie, & I, their party wouldn’t be as awesome.  The 4 of us girls spent months counting down to the party.  B & Stacy would make special rice krispie bars – the US flag complete with stars & food coloring.  Susie & I would decorate & help with the food.  My mom always made her “Snicker & Apple Salad”.  Larry grilled brats & burgers.  The pool was open & happening.  All the neighborhood families were there.  Larry & Dad would bring the cars down to Hobbs early that day – to ensure a front row seat to the fireworks.  Even when it rained, the day was perfect.

To this day, 4th Of July is one of my favorite times of year.  Who doesn’t love great food & fireworks?  If you don’t, you are no friend of mine.

Now the weekend got even better, as Matt & I celebrate our Anniversary on the 3rd.  You really can’t go wrong.  There are always fireworks somewhere to be watched & you never have to go to work the day after – and you can usually watch more fireworks then too!

This year, for our first anniversary, we had a jam packed 4 day weekend.  I wouldn’t have done anything different.  Friday night we spent at the Rockie’s baseball game.  It was a DELIGHTFUL evening – the sun went behind a cloud so we didn’t bake and the temperature was nice.  After the game there was a huge fireworks display, which, as always, didn’t disappoint.

Saturday we went to breakfast & spent the majority of the day driving to all the bike shops in town testing out road bikes.

Sunday was our anniversary.  Again, went to breakfast, test out a few more bikes, went to a movie, played tennis, then enjoyed an amazing dinner at The Capitol Grille.  The problem w/ the Capitol Grille is the food is all so delicious.  By the time the meal actually comes, you’ve filled up on all the bread & yummy appetizers and there is no room for dinner.  Needless to say, we have a lot of leftovers!

Monday was more relaxing.  We picked Lucy up from the Kennel.  This is pretty much all she’s done since she got in the car & has been home.  Poor pup is exhausted – to much fun at the kennel.

Happy 4th Of July everyone!  & Happy Anniversary Matt!!!

Yesterday morning Matt & I went to our favorite breakfast place…which my sister, BethAnn, also loves.  In the middle of breakfast –

M: Text B & tell her we’re thinking of her while having Hot Cakes

C: I can’t…that’s to mean – taunting the almost 8 month pregnant woman w/ her favorite breakfast place that she can’t have

M: no it’s not, she’ll think its nice we’re thinking of her

C: No she won’t, she’ll no longer want to give the baby, if a girl, my middle name. I guess it doesn’t matter, she’s having a boy anyways.

M: Text her anyways.

C: What do you think she’s having?

M: Oatmeal.

C: *almost spits out diet coke* I was talking about if she’s having a boy or girl

M: Oh…I thought you meant what was she having for breakfast.

There you have it folks.  Mid July I can be expecting a lovely bowl of oatmeal instead of a niece or nephew.

In an effort to write at least 1 blog/week, I’m going to write about our week.  I think you’ll all find it incredibly boring riveting.

Lets start with last weekend.  Memorial Day weekend…woot woot!  I got an extra day off.  I’m still psyched about that.  Who doesn’t love a 4 day work week?  Friday Matt & I went to see Bridesmaids.  It had a lot of really funny parts with a lot of crude humor.  On the contrary, it had a lot of really slow parts too.  Overall…it was worth the movie ticket price (side note…why is the movie theater so expensive?  OUCH!).

Saturday was SO awesome I don’t even remember what we did.
Sunday we attended our dear friend Max’s birthday party at his lovely in-laws compound.  The ladies spent hours lounging by the pool turning our pastey white selves into bronzed beauties all while gossiping.  The men played badminton & when the heat of the day go to much, they sat in the shade – apparently they think pastey white looks good on them (who are they fooling?).  After a delicious BBQ, a few of played THE.BEST.GAME.EVER – Yahtzee.  As usual, Liz kicked tookus (so did Josh, but not as much as double yahtzee rolling Liz).  It really WAS a perfect day.  Thanks Gina for pulling it together – Max is the luckiest lad EVER to have you as a wife.

Monday was another beautiful day outside.  I couldn’t let that go to waste, so I got productive outside.  The chop saw busted out &  decided to be crafty (sort of) & make cake pop  holders.  Folks, if you don’t know what cake pops are, please google & educate yourself – its the new craze…don’t be left behind.  In between sawing, priming, painting & sanding I did a bunch of yard work.   I even remembered to water my flowers.  I’m determined to be on top of that this year – I think that’s why my flowers die right away…lack of water.  This year, I am determined to win the Best Green Thumb Award in my neighborhood.  The neighborhood doesn’t know it exists yet, but won’t they be happy when I unveil it.

Best part of the week – we put 3 letters in our mail slot Monday for the mailman.  When we came home from the grocery store, they had blown away.  Oooopppssieees.  Thankfully, Ben, across the street has our back.  He dropped one off that he spotted 2 blocks away on Tuesday night and then on Wednesday, he found one in his yard.  I think the mailman found the 3rd one because it was back in our mail slot.  Ben has earned himself a batch of brownies.  Lucky Fella.  I don’t care if the rest of the neighborhood doesn’t like him, he’s a gem at the Williams’ household.  Stamps are expensive folks…

I know, you are ALL wishing you lived the life of luxury & excitement that Matt & I do.  Trust me, its not easy & not for the faint of heart.

Sorry for not posting lately – I’ve been busy.

Matt made it home safe & sound from China with a lot of amazing experiences & stories.  Lucky boy got to hold a baby lion.  Ohh…it was SO cute.  I told him he should have brought it home – it might be the only form of kitty he’s not allergic too.  Lucy would love a four-legged friend.

Matt got home Monday afternoon, and Thursday night we were both on a plane to Monterey for his sister, Randi’s, college graduation.  YAY Randi!  Congrats!!!  Now that she’s done w/ her Bachelor’s she’s on to bigger & better things – law school.  We were only in CA for a short time, but we made the best of it by getting in a lot of Williams’ family time.  Friday, Randi & her husband, Rob took us golfing at Tahama Golf Course in Carmel.  Its owned by Clint Eastwood.  The course was BEA.U.TI.FUL.  And although very hilly, it was a great time.  Not to mention we had AMAZING weather.  Afterwards, we got treated to a lovely lunch in the clubhouse.  We finished Friday off w/ dinner & dessert at Randi & Rob’s.  I joined a friendly, but competitive game of Phase 10 with Randi, April, & Aunt Charlotte.  Matt was introduced to Angry Birds on his mom’s iPad.  The man is addicted.  ADDICTED!  Saturday was more family time with Randi’s graduation in the AM, swimming at our hotel with the kids in the afternoon, & dinner in the evening.  We were fortunate enough to have Matt’s friend, Kristine travel from San Jose to meet us for dinner.  We got to meet her new baby, Seth (he’s SUPER adorable) and her boyfriend, Erich.

Sunday morning we were off early for the airport to Vegas.  Vegas was fun.  I definitely know why its nicknamed Sin City.  Although I didn’t partake in anything insane, except 30 min. of gambling, I was a glutinous fool.  The food…oh the food!  Everything I ate was spectacular.  I had 2 goals for Vegas – win big & come back not pastey white.  I accomplished 1 of the 2…I have some color.  We were in Vegas until Tuesday morning.  We really only sat by the pool, dined, had a few cocktail parties to go to (Matt was there on business for a big conference) and did some shopping.  It was pretty busy and I didn’t have much opportunity to really explore.  I’ll need to go back.  I will admit, the city is overwhelming.  As we drove the strip, I was SO attracted to all the lights, and kept thinking “oh, we need to go there..and there…and there too”.  It all looks so fun *sighs*  I think I’m the reason they have all those flashy lights, they get me.    Here is a picture of Matt & I on Sunday night before dinner, its of cell phone quality

Last weekend Matt went to Vancouver for work. He left Lucy & I behind to fend for ourselves. It was great (nothing personal Matt) to go back to being a bachelorette. Lucy & I did what we wanted to do, when we wanted to do it, and however we wanted to do it. Not to mention, I got a lot accomplished.

First, it started on Friday afternoon when Carrie & I decided we’d replace my kitchen floors. Now mom, before you get excited, it didn’t happen. There were too many obstacles. One being finding flooring at a reasonable price that I liked. I thought I had that figured out, but the place that said they were having a sale on loose-lay vinyl was, but only on REALLY UGLY loose lay vinyl. I mean, my current linoleum was probably nicer, albeit dirtier. Second, I realized I need to get rid of the wash basin in the laundry room before I put flooring down. Carrie thought we could do it ourselves, until I sent her a picture, then she realized what a beast it appears to be (mostly that nasty ugly pipe under it). *Note current flooring…trendy huh?* I don’t think David, the flooring salesmen, was so convinced Carrie & I could accomplish this task by ourself. Bless his old heart, he gave us some great pointers and even offered to let us borrow his carpet knife.

Dumb Words Win….

Carrie laid down a word, and then about 4 hours later I checked my phone & put down another word.  And if you do download it, my username is Brazzale – consider it game on.

If you know my husband, you know he’s a smart chap.  He’s frequently using intelligent words, not always big, but fancy.  The man is a walking dictionary & thesaurus, its just how he rolls.

Anyways…last night I put it on Matt’s phone, and we probably played 3 games, all of which I.WON.  He tried using his fancy words, but my plain, dumb, & small words won.   I’m putting a check mark under “victory” on my “Matt’s Smarts vs. Catie’s Smarts” list.  The score is now 423,010,345 to 9 (in favor of Matt, obviously, the man is always outsmating me).

I lost my engagement ring beginning of December.  It fell off in the process of looking for our marriage certificate.  Worst.Feeling.Ever.  Matt & I searched our house high & low, approximately 20 times.  The ring did not come out.  So right before Christmas, we got insurance money to replace it, and we did.  The 2nd ring is awesome, and pretty, but not as unique & meaningful as the first one.  And go figure, mid January, I was cleaning out of the office & giving stuff to Good Will when I found my original ring in a bag.  AHHH!!!

Matt & I did the right thing and told the insurance company.  They gave us 2 options – send back the first ring or the money they sent us.  I wish I could send them back the new ring…but its not an option.  So after 3 weeks of going back & forth, I’ve made the decision to send back the original ring.  Our savings account can’t take the blow of sending back the $$ insurance gave us (which we used to buy a new ring).  Its a hard decision, and not sure one I won’t regret, but we can’t sell the new one (we tried) and we can’t afford to send the $$ back, so we don’t have any other options.

What makes men think we are responsible enough to have nice, expensive, pretty things on our fingers?  I clearly can not be trusted.
